Lawn Renovation: The Go Green Way
At the time of your evaluation, if we determine that your lawn is more than 50% weeds or is contaminated with bermudagrass, zoysiagrass, bentgrass, and nimblewill, then a lawn renovation will be recommended.
3-4 applications of a non selective herbicide will be applied to eradicate all vegetation. This takes place in late July to early September.
Scalp lawn to height of 1” to remove excess dead debris (the remaining 1” of thatch will act as straw to keep the new seed moist and will break down with time)
Fill uneven areas with soil
Powerseed lawn in two directions with a high quality Turf Type Tall Fescue mid September
Application of starter fertilizer
Evaluate lawn progress and touch up weak areas
If you choose to do a lawn renovation, instructions will be provided on proper watering and management of new lawn.
If your lawn has thin bare areas throughout the lawn then powerseeding will be recommended to fill in these areas. The best way to ensure weed defense without chemicals is to have a thick healthy stand of turf. Can be performed in spring or fall but fall is the best time
Recommended for every lawn. Aeration is one of the most important cultural practices in turf management. Louisville’s soils are predominately clay and compact very easily. This leads to weak root growth, drainage issues, and ultimately poor turf quality. Aeration relieves compaction by pulling cores out of the soil which allows oxygen and water to reach the roots of your turf. Performed in spring or fall.
